During this corona period going outside is a welcome change from being tucked away in our warm, comfortable houses. Every time I take a step outside to flee from the home office desk, I have the privilege to know where my feet will take me and where and to what I will come home to. I am lucky to lay my head to rest at night and close my eyes without fear. Because of my work for ZOA, I am (more than ever) aware that this is not something to take for granted. Too many people around the world are forced to flee their homes due to conflict or natural disaster. They often don't know where their feet will take them. Instead of the safety and shelter that is so normal to me, they can be left hungry, scared and homeless. I combine my compassion for them with a challenge for myself by joining ZOA's Race for Refugees. Over the course of 1 year I will walk, cycle and/or swim 1000 km. Will you support me in reaching my goal, and by doing so suport those people who hope to one day return home or at least have a place to call home and can close their eyes at night without fear?
